Hi, I'm Melanie!
As an illustrator and graphic designer, I’m passionate about using bold, vibrant visuals to tell powerful stories and create compelling brand identities. I’ve developed a unique illustration style that explores themes of femininity and modern struggles through playful yet poignant imagery.
I’m Melanie Formica, an illustrator and designer with a degree from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan. After graduating, I developed a unique illustrative style that features bold outlines, large bubbly shapes, and vibrant colors. My work often revolves around Russian dolls, animals, and weaponry. I use Russian dolls to express themes of femininity and the struggles of modern women, such as sexualization, the male gaze, and the fight for rights.
Alongside my illustrations, I have extensive experience in graphic design, branding, and packaging. For the past three years, I’ve been working in the cannabis industry, creating social media assets, packaging, and branding in a challenging and highly regulated market. I love bringing a fresh and vibrant perspective to my clients' brands, helping them stand out in an ever-evolving industry.
